ABOUT JOHN WHITE… (Lidia Hernández)
John White is a 54 year old man. He is from Ireland, but most of his childhood took place in Canada. He has two sisters named Michèle and Deidre. The first one has two children called Anders and Miranda. Deidre has other two children named Adam and Liam. John has a brother called David. John is not married but he has a partner called Belen. He is quite small. He has got brown hair and light blue eyes. He wears glasses and he has a little tummy because he says he loves Spanish food.
John is nice, funny and interesting but he is impatient and he eats too much. He likes people who are funny, humorous, kind, generous and real. He dislikes people who are boring and unkind. He is good at baseball, maths, science and computers. He is really bad at singing and dancing. His hobbies are writing, reading, listening to music, riding horses, playing baseball and hockey and going to the cinema. His favourite colours are blue and white. His favourite food is paella, although he also likes sushi and rice pudding. His favourite actor is Spencer Tracy. His favourite actor and actress are Sidney Poitier and Lauren Bacall. The band and singers he likes most are Ray Davis, The Beatles and Lady Gaga. He admires Martin Luther King, a defender of black men’s rights. He also admires Lady Gaga, a singer who has been brave enough to be different.
John studied physics in the University of Waterloo and in the University College Dublin. He finished his studies in 1984. He has visited Ireland, Canada, the USA, Dominican Republic, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Poland, China, Australia and New Zealand and Dubai. He can speak English, French and Spanish and a bit of German and Chinese. When he was a child he never ate rice because his father was fed up with rice since he had always had it in his boarding school. His grandfather and his grandmother met in the First World War. His grandfather was injured and the nurse was John’s grandmother. John’s mum was a soldier in the Second World War.
John likes cats, but he is allergic. His favourite animals are lions. John went once to see Sporting. He prefers Barça to Madrid. His best friend is a Greek guy called Leo. John would like to visit New Orleans and South America now that his Spanish is better. He loves a programme called Castle but he also likes other programmes.
I like John because he is funny and I think that it is good to have a native speaker as we only have class with the other John sometimes and his accent is Scottish. I think that having John is going to be good to improve our English pronunciation.
JOHN WHITE (Lucía del Río)
John White is our new language assistant. He is a 54 year-old man. He was born in Ireland, specifically in Dublin although he spent his childhood in a city located in Canada called Toronto. John is a rather small man, he wears glasses and he has short and dark brown hair. His best friend is a Greek man called Leonidas although he calls him ‘Leo.’ He is not married, but he has a partner called Belén. He has lizards as pets in his house.

He considers himself a funny and kind person. He admires Martin Luther King.
John is not good at dancing and singing, he dislikes boring, false and unpleasant people. He is a bit impatient and he eats more than he should.
John was born in Dublin, but, he grew up in Toronto. When he was a child, he dreamt about being in a famous baseball team. He went to school in a village near Toronto, and then, when he finished secondary school he studied physics first in a Canadian university called ‘The University of Waterloo’, then he finished his studies in an Irish university called ‘University College Dublin’
He has been to many different countries, these countries are:
Ireland, Canada, USA, Dominican Republic, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Holland, China, New Zealand, Australia, Dubai and the United Arabian Emirates.
He told us a very interesting story about his grandparents; many years ago, John’s grandfather was fighting in a war and he was injured, so he went to a hospital where a nurse took care of him. Both fell in love and later married. John said that if his grandfather had not been injured during the war, he wouldn’t be here. I think it is an amazing story about how destiny changes things.
I think that John is a wonderful person. He makes us laugh a lot and he tells us a lot of amazing and interesting stories, I like the way he explains things because it makes the whole class pay attention to him, and that’s a very difficult thing! I think that he has a very interesting life and, the number of countries that he has visited has impressed me a lot. I would like him to visit our class more often, but I know that he must also teach other students.
